You come home after a tough day. You head to your backyard, only to find a pot-bellied pig on the loose.
That might sound a bit ridiculous, right? It wasn’t so for Jody Bridgewater of Windsor, Ont. In fact, the situation only got a bit more weird once she learned that the run-away pig’s name was Arthur Bacon.
“I was shocked. At first I thought it was a dog,” Bridgewater told the Windsor Star. “He was coming toward me and I couldn’t believe what I was looking at.”
Bridgewater brought the little pig a tray of leftovers and tried to lure him into her barn for safety, while she looked for his owners. She would push the tray closer to the barn every time the pig ate, but he caught onto her plan and ran back into the bush.
Bridgewater took to Facebook with the hopes of being able to track down the owners. She added a photo of the little guy and it was shared more than 400 times. One Facebook user named Brad Fader saw the photo and realized it was a pig his uncle had raised.
“Arthur has been found in the backyard of a fella who lives down the street,” said Fader. “He’s escaped before. Needless to say, he had an adventure.”
Fader said the pig lives in an outdoor pen, but he enjoys exploring. Fader also said Arthur Bacon is more like a dog than a pig.
“Sometimes he finds his way out through a hole or digs himself a little trench, but never really travels too far,” he said.
“He’s a good little pig and we’re happy to have him home.”
